Description
These are sessile organisms, usually seen attached with a substrate, like rocks and coral
reefs. All sp. from this group forms colonies by asexual budding. in some species the
colony members are encased in a gelatinous tunic (unique outer covering which is
formed from proteins and carbohydrates). The outer surface may covered with finger like
projection that, aids in feeding as well as in protection. Some Species are known to
exhibit biolumence.
